Over the Edge + December 15, 2010 clubs 7 UNBC CLUBS Let it be the foundation for your New Years resolution EMILY GAUVIN CLUBS EDITOR With the New Year right around the corner many of us will try and take oni our New Years resolution. Many of us wont make it past the one-week mark, where as some of us will invest money into new gym memberships, or a new image, or some may even seek new crowds or friends. Let UNBC help you with this 2011 new years resolution. With the large number of clubs our university offers one of them is bound to meet your resolution standard and help you make it through another year. -Love Life: Those that start the new year reflecting over their love life and decide this is the year to swear off men and are looking to meet new people should perhaps join the PRIDE club. With a number of open-minded individuals, it's an opportunity to meet new faces and perhaps find love under a new light. -New Hidden Talent: Let this January begin to open up your box of talents. It’s time to stop being modest and let your abilities shine. Let your voice swoon the single women of UNBC and perhaps join the Acapella Choir. No one doesn't love to be serenaded, and if you can sing, what a bonus. Maybe singing is not your forte and instead your greatest talent is meant for a bigger audience. You are this year’s drama queen, so join the Drama Club. Live, Love, Laugh under the spotlight, and bring home the UNBC Oscar. -Changing Your Tude: Bar stars, perhaps it is time to change the image and be taken a little more seriously. Sick of waking up in your own vomit and not knowing the person’s name beside you? Then perhaps you need a drastic tude change. The Alpha Pi Beta sorority may not be taking new members but can at least embrace you into a UNBC GEOBATS society that creates ‘sober fun’ and embraces volunteering and participates in activities that you can feel good about the morning after. Perhaps you are looking to change your attitude towards a more inspiring and motivating self. The Students for Green University club is a perfect club that meets this years resolution to do geod! Perhaps really becoming the part, and embracing your inner hippy, you can give up on shaving and become more water savvy and shower every other day. Activities include protests, rallies, petitions, and documentary screenings, what fun! -Seek A Thrill or Adventure: Wanting to bring some excitement into your life this year? Joining the outdoors club will get you a ticket to some of Northern British Columbia’s greatest out door activities. Sometimes extreme, you better secure your halter and step outside the boundaries. If you’re looking for something a little more rugged, and a little more extreme, then gear up - it’s the Medieval Club for you! Get out that scruffy beard and bring you biggest snarl to this combat. The club holds annual combat tournaments that many of us have come across at some point. -Exercising to Fitness: Have some fun with it. Why pay tons of money towards a membership. Despite the fact that ours is free, how much do you really motivate yourself at the gym. Or how often do you go and come home and eat twice as much, and try to convince yourself you worked up the appetite. The Dance Club offers weekly lessons and occasional workshops on a number of different of dances. You wont even realize you're working on your fitness. Get your body to be fergalicious and dance your way to fitness. SUBMITTED PHOTOS You could join the Outdoors Club or even the Debate Club!
