On. January 28th, the team travelled to Watson Lake and were again victorious by a score of 51 - 38. The girls* basketball team participated in a tournament in Chill- iwack from January 27th - 30th. They won two games and lost one. Congratulations to both teams! A boys’ basketball tournament is planned for Cassiar on Febr- uary 25th and 26th. It is anticipated that teams from Hazelton and Watson Lake will be attending. SPRING BREAK As a result of the Provincial budget restraint program, the School Board has announced that the mandatory five day shutdown of schools in the Stikine will be March 25 - March 31, inclusive. This means that schools in Cassiar will be closed for the Spring Break from Friday, March 25 - Friday, April 8, inclusive. School will re-open on Monday, April 11. DRUG SEMINAR On February 9th, the R.C.M.P. Drug Squad from Terrace directed a seminar on drug use and abuse by the Youth of the Province. This seminar was attended by the majority of the teachers from Cassiar Secondary, Snowridge Elementary, and Good Hope Lake Schools. Special thanks to Corporal Bob Bowen for arranging the presentation. Na CREATIVE Cassiar Secondary School ART On January 25, 26, and 27th, Ken Wallace from the Emily Carr School of Art made presentations to the art classes. Public Health Unit WORK EXPERIENCE by JOANN KING | have a lot of fun working with Sharon Bierman at her desk. We type, file, use the telex machine, and answer phones. | go out on a trip to Marvel Travel to get things for Sharon’s Boss. Then | have to type out envelopes for letters to be sent out to Whitehorse or Vancouver. When Bob has some work for me to do, | get on with it right away. | give messages to my Dad when he isn’t in at the time. Work experience is good. It allows students to get out in the world and explore different opportunities.
