November 15, 19¢° Violence At | By Jeremy Fung November 3rd marked the showdown of two bitter rivals. The place: Kinsman Arena #2. The game: boxing, no wait hockey. The arena was packed before the game even started, Wolfpack supporters on one side, Grey Wolf supporters on the other. The game started, and from that point on it got worse. The game was without a doubt the most enter- taining no _ checking hockey game | have ever seen. Dave Hedalin, wear- ing green, opened the scoring and gave the Wolfpack a 1-0 lead. Shortly afterwards the Grey Wolves took two quick penalties, giving the Wolfpack a great opportunity to take a commanding lead. However the penalized | Sports & Clubs Over The Edge Page 7 NBC On The Rise! | team managed to kill off their disadvantages quite efficiently. On a harmless look- ing 2 on 3 attack Kirby Jacques of the Grey Wolves squeezed by the defense on the boards and scored from a sharp angle shot. The game was tied 1-1. Then things got rough. Near the end of the first there was some com- motion by the Wolfpack goal and a skirmish began. Before it was over the Grey Wolf goal- tender had trucked his way down to the far end and joined in. The fra cas ended in several penalties for both sides. The first period came to a conclusion with the game tied at 1-1. Early in the second the Grey Wolves had a power play opportunity. They didn’t score but dominated the play for the next ten minutes. A shocking goal by Carpenter from Cox and Bartrim turned the tide for the Wolfpack. The Grey Wolves did put the puck in the net but it was disallowed. The Wolfpack took another penalty, but the ensuing power play was quickly negated by a Grey Wolf penalty. Score at the end of the second 2-1 Wolfpack. In the third things continued to get rough. Wolfpack scored again, and the Grey Wolves had another goal disal- lowed. Near the end of the game there was a hone crushing hit deliv- ered on a Wolfpack player and the instigator was ejected from the game. Final score Wolfpack 3, Grey Wolves 1.
