RESIDENTS ENJOY
WINTER CARNIVAL

The 2nd Annual Winter Carnival was held
in Cassiar on March 25th with the Lions'
Club being the sponsoring organization this
year. The chairman was Lion Ron Reeve.

The day began with the Cassiar Cub Pack
putting on the breakfast of Pancakes, bacon
or sausages. This year orders were delive-
red from the Curling Club or for those who
preferred, right at the Club.

The first events of the day were sponsor-
ed by the Ski Club and these included down-
hill races which were enjoyed by all.

In the afternoon the Snowmobile Club heid
several types of races at the airport. This
was a pleasant change from the run-of-the
mill oval races ‘as several novelty races
_were held. A very good crowd was on hand
to see these events.

The evening presented another Father-Son
hockey game and as usual the Father's came
up on the short end of an 6-3 loss. This
game was extremely well attended. I[t must
show that people generally enjoy watching
the children get the upper hand on Dad:

Immediately following the hockey game was
a gigantic fireworks display which lasted
about 30 minutes. (see cover photo). As
in the past, everyone from toddler to
grandparent enjoyed the beautiful colours
and sprays of light itn the darkness.

The last event of the evening was the
Games Nite, held in the Community Centre
and attended by a large crowd. This was a
tremendous success and thoroughly enjoyed
by everyone even those who lost at the
tables! The proceeds made will be distri-
buted back to the community through the
works of the Lions Club.

The Lions Club would like to extend a
hearty thanks to all the organizations who
participated in this Winter Carnival as
without their help, this day would not have
been the great success it was.
