The chief contemporary sources for Mac-
kenzie’s life are to be found in: (1) His own
Voyages from Montreal through the Continent
of North America to the Frozen and Pacific
Oceans (London, 1801); this has been several
times reprinted. (2) Roderick McKenzie’s
Reminiscences, in Volume I of L. R. Masson’s
Les Bourgeois de la Compagnie du Nord-Ouest
(Quebec, 1889). (3) Correspondence, etc.,
printed in the Reports of the Canadian
Archives for 1886, 1889, 1890, and especially
