We are glad to have Hine Kawerau back at work after her skiing acc- ident - also Muriel York who was ill recently. Our special thanks to Sheila Leigh who so promptly and kindly "filled in" during the staff shortage. A welcome to Josette Gust, who has come to relieve the various nurses for their summer holidays. Josette from Holland, was here last year also with her parents visiting at the home of her sister,Mrs. Anna Ripco. While Dr. Navin was enjoying his annual holiday recently we had Dr. Peter Magill, Belfast, Northern Ireland to relieve him. FAREWELL TO MARGARET On Friday evening, July 9th, a farewell party was given in honour of Miss Margaret Warby by Mr. and Mrs. G. Johnston. About 30 friends gathered to wish Margaret "Bon Voyage" and on behalf of them, George Johnston pre- sented Margaret with a lovely Jade dress ring, a nice souvenir of Cassiar. Margaret who has been nursing at the Cassiar Private Hospital for the past 16 months, leaves now for a tour of England and Europe and will fly home to Sydney, Australia for Christmas. Margaret was alss honoured at an afternoon tea party by the staff of the Hospital on Juiy 7th. McAndrew UNION REP. - Don Millar The first meeting of the Town Committee was held on July 5th. in the Town Administration Trailer. Mr. McAndrew opened the meeting and proceeded to outline Mr. Jack Christian's thoughts on the Tow Committee. The committee at present has a budget of $10,000. A tractor will be suppl+ed also and a general maint- enance man will be employed solely for the use of the townsite. Many ideas were discussed to im prove the town including parking facilities, crosswalks, a park and the removal of garbage. The Retail Store was subject to much discussion and it has been decided to devote one meeting solely to discuss the store. The committee decided not to allow visitors at the meetings, un- less invited, and if any member of the community wishes a matter pre- sented to the committee would they please contact the representative for their area who will bring the matter into the discussions at the next meeting. a a 2 a Buoyant Besste says she has nothing against marriage....some of her best friends are husbands. a a x a Although children are deducttble, they can be very taxing.
