CURLING CORNER

The A.I.M. Steel trophy competition was
completed last Friday, with victory
going to Kinky Borsato's rink of Dave
Acason, Ella Steen and Don Ritchat who
defeated Charlie Pronson, Marg McKenzie,
Bonnie Reid and Rupert McKenzie. John
Bunce and Danny Demitri were the losing
semi-finalists.

The White Pass trophy competition was
nearing the end when the last issue of
the paper went to press. Groups 1 & 3
were decided with 3 straight wins for
Beyer and Beguin., Groups 2 and 4 had
ties in which Ritchat beat McKenzie and
Borsato beat Fresco. Beguin and Ritchat
finally emerged as the finalists, and

on March 20th Andre Beguin's rink of

Sig Maibaum, John Forbes and Shorty
Berne won the trophy from Don Ritchat,
Art McAndrew, Bobbi Stewart and Marge
McKenzie.

Six Ladies rinks took to the ice last
week~end in a 2-way knock-out for the
Grinnell trophy. On the winner's side
Pat Stevens with Diana little, Ella
Steen and Jane Parker beat Mabel Edwards,
Lauretta Roblee, Bonnie Reid and Dot
Grayson to win the trophy and lst prize.

On the other side, Olga Husack with
Marvel Nitti, Mengia Semadeni and Hilda
Voss won from Nina Powell, Ursula Beyer,
Mickey Grodecki and Toni Demitri to win
second prize.

With the end of the curling season just
round the corner the weather has decided
to turn cold and give us better ice now
than we had during the bonspiel. Providing
it continues to hold out, another com-
petition is planned for April lst = 5th.
There will be two prizes and each member
on the rink will skip two ends end lead
for two ends, so that everyone gets a
chance to play all positions. This event
will definitely end the curling season.

The presentation party is set for April
20th = members will be officially invited
in due course.

BADMINTON

Alas, whitehorse badminton club, who were
to have come down for a tournament this

week-end, had to cancel at the last minute

because the road is in such bad shape.
This is very disappointing, but the next
competition will be the '62/63 season club
tournament for trophies and is 100 % sure
to take place.
