We are always looking for ways to improve our programs and services. VOLUNTEERS Anyone looking for volunteer hours or would like to get involved with the fitness centre, should come to the PIT and sign up. We are actively looking for dedicated people to help us out with the intramural special events. Depending on the number of hours you work, you may be eligible for free equipment for a 1 month period or for the whole semester. The equipment rentals include racquets, balls, eye protectors and ski packages. It is a great opportunity to build up your resume and then, get out on the courts and play. FITNESS CENTRE - NEW CLOTHES - NEW MASCOT DESIGN The retail clothing should be in soon, and they will be sporting the new mascot logo. Come up to the PIT and check it out. We will have shirts, hats, and shorts. UPCOMING EVENTS March 8 - Look for the upcoming UNBC student/staff only squash tournament to be held on March 8. March 10 - There will be open gym at CNC where we hope to play some badminton. Anyone interested should come up to the PIT and talk to Loralyn. We have the gym from 12-5pm. University of Northern British Columbia Education student Seth Raymond will be the first UNBC graduate to defend his master’s thesis. His oral exam is scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday, March 9th. His research project report evaluates a unique educational upgrading pilot project for unemployment insurance recipients. Seth began his Masters of Education degree program before UNBC opened for full operations. He was registered in the Williams Lake regional pilot project that began in July 1994, and as a result of his degree program at UNBC, he obtained full-time employment as a School Counsellor at DP Todd Secondary School in Prince George.
