Getting meals on this trip, certainly did not tax their imagination, for in back packing, they had to eliminate heavy canned goods. Their staples were mac- aroni, beans, rice and pancake flour. Once it was a mess, when they broke a pack- sack of pancake flour and rice and got it all mixed up. It was hard to know whether to serve the mixture for breakfast or din- ner. The going got more rugged, as they left next morning, for they were getting into the country of big hills and big lakes. It meant rugged bushwhacking through the valleys. The business of crawling over and under windfalls, pulling your pack after you, was not easy. Taking a heavy pack off and putting it on again, was tough. They were a droopy-looking lot, but happy. Their clothes and supplies were still soaked from the day before. Who The Big Devil Man SEVENTEENTH EDITION HEGGIE’S CAFE Mrs. D.
