LAC LA HACHE— (Continued) large general store to meet the needs of the growing settlement, and where supplies of all kinds may be obtained, and where there is a Dominion Govern- ment Telegraph Office. This estate owns and operates one of the largest cattle ranches in the province. (They also operate the Cariboo Trading Company store at the 150 Mile House.) The estate is under the management of Messrs. Cowan & Penrose. Tourists here are assured of a very hearty welcome. One gradually descends from here to the Valley of Lac La Hache, a Post Office and ranching settlement, 103 miles north of Ashcroft. It is also a station on the P. G. EB. Railway. It is situated on a beautiful lake of the Same name and about 11 miles in length. It is one of the nicest spots on the Cariboo Road, and here the visitor may troll for the finest Trout and Char to be found in the district. The principal industry is cattle and sheep raising, although many of the places grow excellent crops of grain. Good accommo- dation may be obtained at the 115 Mile House, at the 122 Mile and the 127 Mile. At the 122 Mile House the services of a motorboat may be had for those who wish to enjoy a trip on the lake.
