In some instances agreements exist whereby the dealers are reimbursed the exact amount they paid for lots which the victimized company wishes to recover. Shoplifters are not, however, the store detective’s only worry. There are numerous other malpractices he must watch for, such as dishonest employees, a contagion that can spread rapidly through a store. The pre- vention of crime in the store and the appre- hension of all kinds of crooks are the store detective’s duties. He protects the public as well as his employer. Bandit Robs Bank At Pioneer of $3600 FRIDAY, MAY 29th, will be a memorable day in the annals of the Bridge River valley. At 10.00 a.m. a man walked into the Bank of Toronto at Pioneer and asked the man- ager if he could have a few moments of his time on some personal business. Invited into the office he produced a pistol and pro- ceeded to tie up and gag that official. That completed he then secured the teller in a similar manner and looted the place thor- oughly. Within a few minutes he had de- camped with approximately $3600. The local police, under Sergeant Jarvis, were Graham Cartage Ltd. HAULING LOGGING BREXTON, B. C. FUEL B. R. Within a very short time every exit from the district was under guard and parties were scouring the moun- tains, trails and old mining camps for trace of the fugitive. It was not until the Sunday morning that a patrol crossing the summit of the McGillivray Pass struck the trail of the hunted man. He had doubled back and forth in an effort to confuse pursuit, but it was soon evident that he was headed for the Blackwater country and the P. G. E. The party then made its way to McGillivray Falls as quickly as possible to put all watchers on the alert. Shortly after their arrival at this point a report was received that a man believed to be the bandit had been sezn on the tracks at Creekside. A party of two Provincial constables and two members of the Special Reserve immediately took up the chase and the accused was arrested at about 10 p.m. in a house on the Indian reservation at Creekside. Delli- chano, a former employee of Pioneer Mines, surrendered without resistance and was brought back to Bralorne for a preliminary hearing. Practically all the money taken from the bank was recovered when the arrest was made. Just another perfect crime that had a flaw in its execution.
