by Kellaine McKendrick Although =UNBC has finally opened its doors upon completion, many of the incoveniences now being experienced were not fully expected to such anextent. These are affecting everyone attending B. C's new University, but are particularly noticeable by those students and faculty transferring from other colleges and universities from across the world. In comparison to older post-secondary institutions, the student body is obligated to create their own clubs and recreational activities. However, as students are now finding, little previous organization has delayed this process. And for those clubs that have been able to make it off the ground they are finding that financial assistance from the University is extremely limited. Hopefully with the formation of the Student Association there will be more organization, ot at least in financial matters. This process, too, though, has The Prince George Campus. (Photo taken by Bob Ingraham Photography) BEGINN been delayed and clubs are now awaiting funds for activities and equipment. Understanding must be provided in matters such as these, for all that is required to run such an Association is largely underestimated. Clubs alone are not all that have been unfortunately delayed, though. As I'm sure many have noticed, desks do not seem to be a commonly- found feature at the University. Despite promises of furniture for the first weeks of school we have now entered October, and not only are we missing desks, but also garbage cans. Both students and faculty alike must be praised for their patience with all the inconveniences required of getting a mew University started. Lack of furniture and organized student groups and clubs are just one part of the process. Workmen and scaffolds. still litter the campus in abundance, but we await final completion with forebearance. We are proud to be a part of B.
