November 20, 2 T-Wolves play Royals, Eagles. You Win Some, You Lose Some. By: Mel Bostrom Opening night for Varsity Basketball started last weekend, November 10th and 11th, with a good start. Both women’s and men’s teams won their games against the Kwantlen Eagles. With the CNC gym _ packed, Dawn Perry started the evening with the National Anthem. The women’s team start- ed with the lead in the first game of the night and never gave it up. At the half of the game, the Timberwolves were leading 33-15. Half time was the time for the Junior Grizzlies, with the showcasing of future tal- ent from a group of young girls. The second half was all UNBC, with many turnovers from Kwantlen and UNBC dominating the offense, it was no doubt that the T-Wolves would win. Leading scorers for UNBC were Nicole Ross with 15 points, Laura Foster 11 points, and Christina Neufeld 11 points. The men’s team carried over the women’s momentum, by taking the first 2 points and Kwantlen taking the early lead, but with some foul trouble the _ T- Wolves didn’t look back. At the half with the score 47-43 for UNBC, Kwantlen always keeping it close. The second half started with the usual fast paced game that the T-Wolves always play. The final score 89-85 for UNBC. Leading scorers for UNBC were Dana Larsen with 25 points, Brent Sevigny 16 points and Ted Cowley 15 points. Friday night was also the introduction of the offi- cial UNBC Mascot “Timmy” the T-Wolf I don’t actually know if that’s his name, but we can all believe the guy in the Wolf costume, right? Saturday night was against Douglas, the Women lost a_ hard fought game, 70-65 in Overtime. While the men lost a close game, 74-71. Sorry, I forgot to get leading scorers, my bad. This weekend the teams are going to be in Kamloops against the Cariboo Sun Devils. Good luck to them. 6 O00 Heather Hausot going in the lay up.
