Articles recovered by R.C.M.P. following series of thefts from Shawnigan Lake summer homes, guns taken from Wilson and Lenfesty, and costume articles owned by Victoria Girls’ Drill Team, examined by Constable Wilfred G. Lambert. instrumental in recovering property valued at $1,000 Ex-Provincial Police Get Pay Break IT LOOKS AS though members of the provincial police force taken over by the R.C.M.P. are getting a break in pay. There were loud complaints at the time of the transfer over lower salary schedules in the national police force and to compensate for the difference in pay it was agreed by the province to make a severance grant to the men. The grant was the difference in pay at the time of the transfer for the period up to March $31, 1952. It was to be paid in two lump sums, one this month and the second before the end of March next year. Increases in the federal scale were announced from Ottawa recently and the feeling in provincial circles is that the new R.C.M.P. salary rates will have no effect on the severance grant. This means the ex-members of the B.C. Police force now in the R.C.M.P. will be the best-paid Mounties in Canada up to the end of March, 1952. While reports of secretaries of dif- ferent divisions, membership rolls and other articles on the veterans’ associa- tion activities make its appeal mainly for ex-members of the famous force there are a number of articles which will interest the general public. oa 0.0 The Shoulder Strap ENTERTAINMENT FOR Wal WASIOIDE TEVA? ‘Scarlet and Gold” Obviously the association is to ex- members of the Mounted Police what the Canadian Legion is to war veterans and fights their pension claims and other rights vigorously and effectively.
