U.S. Army Air Force, McChord Field 830 B.C. POLICE WIN NATIONAL TITLES At Ottawa, August 10 and 12, the British Columbia Provincial Police revolver team, consisting of Sub-Inspector J. A. Young, Constable J. Gibault and Constable R. Walker, won two team titles, one second in 22 cal. team event, and two individual championships. On August 10 the team won the center fire, revolver, Canadian National Championship and on August 12 they won the Canadian National championship for service pistols. They placed second in the team event for 22 cal. pistols. Sub-Inspector Young won the Canadian championship titles for individuals in the center fire, revolver, shoot, and the service pistol shoot. Constable Ed Corson Promotes Bike Race Constable Ed Corson of Smithers is shown above with Johnny Laid- law, winner of an eight-mile bicycle race promoted by Corson. Laidlaw’s time was 26.30 and race was open to boys over 14 from high school or public school. Corson is well known as a promoter of juvenile sports in Courtenay where he organized a base- ball tournament every Labor Day while he was in that city. Sub-Inspector Young Places Third At Bisley Honor came to the B.C. Provincial Police Force and to the 5th B.C., lak AL JAN, INGE. R. C. A., which he was repre- senting, when Sub - Inspector J. A. Young placed third with a score of 23 in a seven- way shoot-off | at Bisley, Eng- land, for the} Donegal Chal- lomee Cwp- Color Sgt. H. J. Thomas of Ep- som, Surrey, won the event Sub-Inspr. J. A. Young With a score of “San expect 24. pistol shot. Thomas, Young and the other top five fired five shots at a distance of 200 yards. Each scored possible 50’s in the elimination contest. Sub-Inspector Young was a mem- ber of the Dominion’s official 18- man team to the 80th Common- wealth rifle shoot at Bisley and brought honors to the Provincial Police and his regiment by being close to the top in all events, in- cluding the grand aggregate.
