We have been quite busy here at Over the Edge writing to our heart’s content. Since we last spoke, so many things have happened in and around our little campus which we are very excited to impart to you. You will find coverage of several protests, an introduction to the rookie T-wolves, and a cure for those pesky hangovers we all suffer from. While the Over the Edge team is better than it has ever been before, we are still looking for a new Sports Editor. We know you are out there, so send us your resume and some samples of your writing. If you do it soon, you will be hired season. Plus, you will be $200 dollars richer before you know it! But, if sports just isn’t really your thing, we are always looking for contributors — so if you have an article send it to overtheedge@unbc.ca. Currently, the OTE staff and | are furiously planning what will be immortalized as the best event ever hosted at UNBC. Stayed tuned for more details in October! Here is a hint: it involves copious amounts of hair products... - She/. cy Petersen The deadline for the next issue is Wednesday, September 29. Be sure to get your articles in on time! Over the Edge is part of the Canadian Uni- versity Press network of papers, otherwise known as CUP. CUP is an organization that is entirely owned by member papers, and provides such services as a news wire and advertis- ing to Over the Edge. Wed love to meet you! Our Newest Staff Members VY JESSICA N SHAPIRO PRODUCTION COORDINATOR I’m not from Western Canada. | never grew up with mountains or the possibility of taking a dip in the ocean. I’ve never driven from my house to a world-class ski hill, or spent an afternoon hiking in a rainforest. I’m from Toronto, Ontario. Being from Toronto I’ve also never had to put a big green sticker of an ‘N’ on the back of my car to announce to the rest of the driving population that I’m certainly, and certifiably, a nOOb. I’ve also never had to plug my car battery into the side of my house to ensure it doesn’t go into cardiac arrest in the night. And lastly, I’ve never had to be so fully prepared lest a bear or, so I’ve heard even worse, a moose attacks me... on my way to class. As you can see, since moving to Prince George two months ago to start my masters at UNBC, | have weighed the pros and cons of living on either side of this country. One more pro | forgot though: | get to design the student newspaper for all you guys! I’m the new production coordinator. Thanks for paying attention to the detail. THIS COULD BE YOU! SPORTS EDITOR Hello, | am the Sports Editor here at Over the Edge. As the Sports Editor, | am responsible for having a really great time at all of the local sporting events both recreationally and professionally. This job is really great, because not only am | already a HUGE fan of the Timberwolves, | live a breath sports — so writing about them just comes naturally. My interests include watching sport, writing about sports, and playing sports. On top of al | of the sports | get to watch and write about, | also get to hang out with some pretty cool people who also work at Over the Edge. Every day that | spend in the office is like a mini party. Speaking of the office, | have to put in at least 6 hours of week of office time, but it is no problem because it works out to be about an hour every other day. In total, | have to put in 30 hours a week, but c’mon — all | have to do is cover sports, so its like | am being paid $200 a month to have fun.
