HERE'S a new story about “Monty,” culled
from a contemporary journal.

American journalists who have returned
to New York from the Mediterranean, tell
of one of their number who secured an in-
terview with General Montgomery. After
writing his article the reporter submitted it
to the general for approval.

To his delight, Montgomery blue-pen-
cilled certain passages and wrote in him-
self considerably amplified versions of the
deleted passages saying, “I think this makes
it more accurate.”

The reporter sent the article by cable, but
when it reached New York the British
censors had eliminated every word that
Montgomery had either said or written in
himself.
