ENGLAND AND HER MEN

When peaceful England went to war
against the Nazi scourge,
Her sons protected every shore, where
British breakers surge.
Though they were unprepared for war,
they fought for what was right;
They did their duty, then did more, to
hold the Nazi might. Q
With a courage like Gibraltar, Churchill
said bravely then,
England would not fail nor falter, for
he knew Englishmen!

When screaming, blasting death and fire
rained down upon their homes,

They worked and toiled, they did not tire,
but prayed ‘neath shattered domes.

And in a desert hell they knew death,

They lost but smiled through gritted teeth,

They held the fort “til others came, to
battle at their side;
Together through the steel and flame, they
fought with equal pride.
The tide of battle slowly turned, their
darkest hour had passed.

They won the victories they had earned,
by fighting to the last.
Each warrior who fights with those, who
held at any cost,
Knows Englishmen and surely knows why
England was not lost!
