Curling first started here in 1955
and has continued to thrive ever since
with an average of 120 members ver season.
The curling season lasts about 3% months
during which time more than 10 trorhies
are niayed for.

We have a four day Anrwalj Ponevie)
with teams coming in from as far away as
Vancouver, a distance of 1600 miles, to
compete in this event. Cassi=r Asbestos
Corporation provides free accommodation
and meals for all visiting curlers, and
the Curling Club Committee endeavours to
make sure that everyone has a pocd time by
beeping large auoplies of whiskey on hand.
This years Bonspiel will be held in the
letter vart of February, and will be our
12th.

Like that other great scotch fame,
golf, you must have a series of excuses
ready to make up for a lack of talent.

The ability, for instance, to look down
the ice after you have thrown your rock
ten feet short and three feet wide of the
orvom and say "There’s a bad fault in the
ice thers”, cakes years of training. You
must be ready to blame the ice, your shoes
the ice meker, your skip, their skip, ete.
indeed blame everything but yourseif for
the way that you curl.

During the curling season some of
oar more enthualastic members varticinate
in Bonspiels in other towns and on many
cecasions they have come home "loaded with
loot" or, in other words, trophies.

If vou are thinking of taking un

invented curling....which leads many of us
to believe that curling will drive you to
