The Cabin Fever Festival "The ‘event of the Century", occurred Saturday night, December 8 at the Rec Hall with slightly less than one thousand people in attendance. Although the attendance was a little lower than expected, a good time was had by all. Beer drinking contests were held and a new record was made by Leonard Creyke's team who successfully consumed six bottles of beer within 25 seconds. And a special mention to the Humphry Construction team, who, despite a valient effort, hit a new all time low. the? | blonde bombshell", Miss Nancy Turner "+ lucky recipient of the door prize, - 1+7ross-country ski set.... to ine highlif event ae skidoo breakdown! presentation of trophies. However, those five had a very good repertoire and managed to have everyone up and dancing into the small hours of the night. The other 15 members accompanied the band as well as possible with foot-stomping, glass clinking, table tapping and assorted vocal harmonies. The Cabin Fever Festival continued well into Sunday morning with increased enthusiasm and a sudden burst of energetic response minutes before the bar closed for the evening. All things considered, the action packed event was enjoyed by all and has started the ski club on another fantastic season. The decorations deserve note in that our Finnish consultant, Mr. Ray Lahti (alias Pee Wee) was called in especially to supervise the installation at fantastic time and expense. Needless to say the results were extraordinary. As an extra bonus, Mr. Lahti remained in a somewhat less than intoxicated condition in order that he could see what the "lovely ladies" looked like for a change. 19 However all good things must come to a close and we would all like to extend our enoymous thanks to Mr. G, Baker who was in charge of clean-up. Also special thanks to Mr. J. Mac- Pherson who was our Public Relations man who was responsible for all the advert- ising which helped to make this "Event of the Century" such a success. SKI COLUMN The McDame Mountain Ski Club is celebrating their anniversary this year and in line with the activities planned wish to extend an invitation to all persons interested in skiing, either cross-country or down-hill, to participate in the slate of lessons and races planned for the 1973- 74 season. In conjunction with the ski __ -clubs of Whitehorsé, Watson Lake, Elsa, and Faro, races for the Yukon Cup will be held at all member club hills, including the fantastic 1400 foot downhill mn available to all Cassiar Residents. We are indeed fortunate to have the longest skiing season and the most active club in Northern B.C. For the meagre sum of 5 and 1/2 cents per day, you too can be a member!! So don't delay, act now and contact Mary Lee Burns, your Membership Chairman, or any other members of the ski club executive. Due to the increased price of oil on the world market, many persons are raising the membership fees of their organizations to keep in step with the rising cost of inflation. However, your local ski club is stretching the dollars to insure that there will be no increase in the cost of membership fees in the near future. Therefore, it costs you less to ski today than it has at any time in the past, and at the same low price! 2 -< 3 OO OOS THEN there's the story about the fellow who got a pair of water skis for his birthday and has been going around for weeks looking for a lake with a slope. << OO
