Chad originally comes from Northern Ontario. He moved to Gibsons, B.C. when he was fourteen, and now makes UNBC his home. Chad, like his father, started playing hockey at a very young age of four. Like most Canadians, it was a game that he fell instantly in love with. "T guess you can say hockey is in my blood, because my father also started to play hockey at a very young age." Lamarche idolized Kén Linseman, who played for Boston Bruins, and Edmonton Oilers. Linseman was known as “THE RAT”, who Chad realiy closely tried to imitate his style of play. Today, Chad is the head of the UNBC TIMBERWOLVES HOCKEY CLUB. The T-WOLVES play in the Prince George Recreation Hockey League. At the moment, they are playing in the “REC-D DIVISION”. | This year, the T-WOLVES ate having an ‘up and down season. Chad says that the T-WOLVES are a streaky team. A team who wins a lot of games in a row, and loses a lot of games in a row. The T-WOLVES are a group of players who are out there to have fun, to play for the tove of the game. When I asked Chad who is the motivator for the team, and if he could mention any honourable players, Chad had a hard time coming up with something. The reason was that there are none. This is what he came up with: "We have a different nucleus of players who come from all over Canada. We have bonded as a team, and every night it is a total team effort. No one player puts the blame on one player for had Lemarche: Hear of UNB Tockey and Clubs ‘| and Sport Director (NUGSS) --photo Cameron Rowe winning, or losing. The blame is put onthe team. Westick up for each other, and pump each other up. We are out there to have fun." Chad would like to see more fan support, but unfortunately, there is no set scheduling. Scheduling is done game by game. Games are usually scheduled late nights on weekdays. When Chad Lamarche decided to run against me as Athletic Director, I knew I had one hell of a job cut out forme. Yes, I came only a few votes from defeating Chad, but it was Chad’s strongly built reputation, his will to work hard, and the respect he has gained from his peers for getting the job done, are the reasons why Chad became Sports and Club Director. Chad would like to concentrate on school spirit which UNBC students have none whatsoever, and he would like to increase student involvement in Sports and Clubs. Chad’s patience, understanding, natural talent, and his strongly built reputation are the reasons why Chad has done what he has. Reputation is the key word. Reputation is not given. It is earned. This is something that can never be recouped. These are the reasons why Chad has become an extraordinary friend, athlete, and person. Chad is definitely making his mark at UNBC. Sports and Rec HEY EVERYBODY, My name is Keri Amundsen and I’m writing you this letter to personally invite you to the early bird step class on Monday morning, 6:45 am. Now before you think, “Yah right, she’s got to be crazy, that’s just too early” please bear with me ‘cuz I hope to change your mind. I'll first take this oppor- tunity to tell you a bit about my- self. I’ve been an aerobics in- structor for a short while and have been teaching since the summer. I have just recently begun teach- ing here at the University and would love to meet each one of my participants, yes that means you. I’m also a student and live here in residence. I consider my- self an energetic and enthusiastic person (well, most of the time, when I’m not in the Zombie Study mode) and I LOVE TO STEP. I’m hoping to pass some of this on to you. My goals for the class include: HAVING TONNES O’ FUN, providing you with a great workout that’[] make you sweat, having fun, meeting new people and friends, having fun, aiding you in your workout goals and challenging you as well as myself; oh did I mention having a Blast!!! REASONS WHY I THINK YOU SHOULD ATTEND THE EARLY BIRD CLASS: 1. You live in residence, so you don’t have to wake up any earlier than ohhh let’s say 6:30 am in order to wash your face, slip into some workout gear and take a leisurely stroll over to the fit- ness centre that is right next door. 2. You don’t even have to comb your hair, or do any primp- ing before you come because be- lieve me we’re all just as tired as you are and look just as “beauti- ful’ Hee Hee. 3. You don’t have to go and warm up your vehicle at -30C, because as I mentioned before, the fitness centre is right next door. 4. YOUR METABO- LISM IS AT IT’S HIGHEST IN THE MORNING, YOU’LL BURN MORE CALORIES, WHICH LEADS TO LOSING THOSE NASTY PROBLEM AREAS, AND YOU’LL HAVE FUN WHILE YOU ARE ATIT. 5. IT’S A GREAT WAY TO START YOUR DAY, AND YOU CAN BRAG TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT HOW REFRESHED AND EN- ERGETIC YOU FEEL, while they complain about how sluggish they feel. 6. With homework and studying, you can’t always find time to attend a class later in the day or evening so why not get your workout over in the morning and like I said feel mmmarvelous about yourself, inside and out. 7. Lastly on a more abrupt tone, Get your lazy butt out of COME AND JOIN IN ALL THE FUN WHILE YOU’RE TRIMMIN’ THOSE NASTIES. HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON!! (Like this Monday morning, 6:45 am).
