(eo NEWS At the Watson Lake Bonspiel, February 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th, the two Cassiar teams that attended both came home with prizes. John Forbes, with Chuck Gander, Dick Forbes and Dianne Forbes won the sixth event. Don MacQuarrie, Ed MacDonald, Ceasar Isidore and Cathy Gander took third in the first and second in the sixth. The Clark team from Fort Nelson went home with the big prizes after winning first in the first event, first in the second event and the Grand Aggregate. At home in the Ladies’ Bonspiel held from Feburary 13th to 16th, six teams participated and the winners were Gina Duri and her team of Lee Tarasuk, Valerie Tuck and Gert Huffman. Eileen Zemenchik took the second event with her team of Shirley Giachino, Caren Marriott, Sue Dubois. The Grinnell trophy was played for in this event. ee HH HH The Second Event of the season featuring the Firestone and Conveyor trophies was won by Danny Demitri, and Egil Eriksen took second. ( * ee He HH The Third Event for the Bell Asbestos and Whitepass trophies was won by John Forbes with Paul Ripco taking second. ** & &# & HH The CLINTON CREEK BONSPIEL is being held this year on March 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th. Will anyone represent Cassiar at Clinton? +e 8 HH The second curling social was held on January 25th, featuring the usual ‘spiel with 2 end games. A draw to the button was won by Betty Miller and Al Taylor. * eH He H HOCKEY NEWS The first game of the season between Watson Lake and Cassiar took place on February 2nd in Cassiar. The Watson Lake team outscored the home team and the final tally was 5—4 for Watson Lake. During this game one of the Watson Lake players was injured. Since then a collection has been taken from players and spectators alike to help him with expenses till he is able to work. A hearty thank you is extended to all those who donated. * ee HH The Cassiar Bantams came out on top of their game against Watson Lake Bantams on the same day by a score of 3—2. Watson Lake goals were scored by G. Pye and R. Maris with W. Johnny getting an assist. C. Gleason, L. Duri and W. Ball counted for Cassiar with L. Duri and D. Johnny getting an assist apiece. ee He HH HK In Watson Lake on February 16th the Cassiar Asbestos Kings defeated the Watson Lake club by a score of 7 — 4.
