Page 2 Cassiar Courier January 1991 CONCERNED CITIZENS To the Public: To the Publics As students of the eleven class at Cassiar I would like to ask how the fire department would put out a grade Secon— dary, we are writing this letter fire in Cassiar, B.C. To my concerning several problems all knowledge the water tank truck teenagers face. Throughout the that the fire department owns past years, many of us have felt would last ten minutes maximum left out. We have noticed a lot. of functions are set up toa suit the adults and children of our community. Where do we come in place? Many parents are worried about their children picking up bad habits at a young age. AS students, we have noticed this is becoming an on-growing problem that must change. We are afraid for the younger generation, and are trying to act on this problem now. Without your consideration and understanding we are worried that nothing will be accomplish— ed. while putting out a house fire. I’ve lived here for almost a year now and all the time I’ve lived here I’ve never seen the fire de—- partment checking the fire hy-— drants to see if they are working or are frozen. T can see they aren’t checked, the hydrants are buried under a foot or s0 of snaw! I was in a Volunteer Fire Department before and every prac— tice we had we made a point of checking all the fire hydrants. What I suggest is have the fire hydrants dug out and checked. I know around my house the fire hy— drant is buried in snow and prob— ably every other one is also. I would like to know how the fire department plans to solve these the way the We feel the teenagers in Cassiar should be given a place to express themselves, a place with games, excitement and leis— ure. With a place for teenagers, problems. Presently, we feel that many of those bad fire hydrants sit they are or habits can be broken, and that very well should be against the this place will stop the younger law. generation from picking them up. We would greatly appreciate your support and look forward toa receiving your reply. Thank you! & Concerned Citizen Sincerely, Tricia Liddle and the grade eleven class Continued from page | tively, etitiveness. 5 Generation DOOOO-0O00 000000 90090000000000 Customers who purchase the new service will be able to dir— ect dial long distance calls to selected zones within Canada over a dedicated WATS access line.
