UNBC students are headed to the polls and this year’s election is sure to be the most diverse yet. No longer will the ballot be dominated by commerce and business students, but rather by a less steam pressed group of budding politicians. And one thing is certain; next year could look a whole lot greener than it does now. So, here is the low down on the candidates for the 2011/2012 NUGSS board: President Nadia Nowak Nowak is a fourth year Environmental Planning Student. She has been extremely active in and around UNBC with both NUGSS and goBeyond. Starting as the Associate Director of Campus Sustainability, Nowak has served on the NUGGS board of directors for two terms and is now the Colleges Representative. VP External Affairs Lauren Movold Movold is currently the Women’s Representative for NUGSS. Movold is in her third year pursuing a degree in English and First Nations Studies. If Movold is successfully elected VP External Affairs she plans on improving the communication between the UNBC and its regional campuses. Vandergaag has worked on the Events Planning Committee and has been a RA for two years running. As an RA Vandergaag has had plenty of opportunity to plan and orchestrate many successful events. Colleges Representative Selena Demenoff Demenoff is a second year Health Sciences major from the West Kootenays. Demenoff is active member on the UNBC campus with involvement in the PGPIRG Board, Students for a Green University, the Peer Support Network, and the First Nations Centre. Kadagn Klepsch Klepsch is a third year Biochemistry Major. He is excited to be part of UNBC politics and would like to promote the LSC. Associate Director Planning Heather Ritchie Ritchie is a second year INTS/POLS Major. Ritchie is a recent transfer to UNBC and wants to jump right into campus life. *) on VP Student Affairs Mark Nasu Nasu is a_ third year Physical Georgraphy Major. Nasu has been active in many clubs and feels he can really help improve relations between the studentsnet and NUGSS Women’s Representative Melanie Setter Setter is a second year Social Work student. Setter feels she is best for Women’s Rep because she is already involved with the WC and other UNBC organizations. Meghan Allan Allan is a biology student. Allan feels she is best for the position because she can relate to what women around the campus are feeling. VP Social Caitlin Tates Tates is a returning member of NUGSS. Previously the AD of Planning, Tates feels she has the appropriate experience to do the job right. VP Finance Jordan Crosina Crosina is a third year Health Sciences Student who has worked for several non-profit organizations. Alden Chow Chow is a third year POLS Major. Chow holds a certificate in Business Administration and was involved with the Student Union at NWCC. VP Campus Sustainablity Cameron Bell Bellisinhis second yearofEnvironmental Studies. Bell is also active with Students for a Green University. Kaitlyn Morris Morris is passionate about Green innitiatives and hails from Smithers, H&R BLOCK’ ne First Nations Representative Cody James Teed Teed is from Sai’kuz Reservation and wants to see more First Nations people attend UNBC. Smith would love to foster a better sense of community around campus.
