PIRG Update It’s another thrilling PGPIRG update! Things seem to be exploding in the office lately, which is a good thing, but it is very hectic. Here’s a quickie update of what’s going on. We’ ve just hired three work- study students. Two of then will be working on creating new and improving on our old connections and services with the and services with the UNBC regional campuses. The third student will be conducting a hazardous waste audit of UNBC’s Prince George campus. PIRGAPALOOZA happened on January 29 in the Doug Little lounge and was very successful. There were performances ranging from a groovy flute-bass-guitar- drum-jar jam to a mouth harp to story readings to singing a capella, Thanks to all of the Prince George Public Interest Research Group great performers and to everyone that showed up. We were trying to have an afternoon with a political slant and it all seemed to come together very well. Many people have suggested organizing this event on a more regular basis. If you are interested in seeing it happen more often and want to help out, call or drop by the PIRG office and ask for Gagan or Jenny. The organic food group is getting it all together for ordering this semester. By the time this paper is printed, we will have already had one order of organic produce. We’re hoping to have dry goods and more organic produce arrive on March 3rd, so get your orders in by February 19th (you must pay when you order and there will be a $10 shipping charge. If the shipping cost turns out to be less, we’ ll refund you when you pick up your food). be a $10 shipping charge. If February 3, 1997 -- Over The Edge — Page 9 . The composting group is looking for volunteers to work on the web page and also for general composting help. There will be a composting workshop happening very soon where people can learn how to build (CHEAP!!) backyard compositors, as well as the basics of composting. More buckets will be available for the residence program shortly as well. The Recycling and Men’s Anti-Sexist group are still valiantly struggling on with their respective projects. They need more help and ideas!!! There is a brand spanking new Air Quality action group. FINALLY! They are currently organizing mill _ tours, researching the MDF plant, and participating in the workshops on managing airshed quality in Prince George. They hope to pass this information on-the general public and spark action for progressive change in PG’s air quality.
