The Northern Steel Invitational was held at Kelly Road Senior Secondary School. Cherie Alexander said “this tournament was much tougher then the women’s league final.” Aleza had an upgraded team and there was a challenging team from Williams Lake. The final standings ended up with UNBC coming first, Aleza in second, and the William’s Lake team third. Cannicord, the team the Timberwolves beat to win the women’s league, placed fifth. Feature Club: Climbing Club The sport climbing pitches are rated on a scale going from 5.5 up to 5.15. The first 5 indicates that the run is rock, while the second num- ber is calculated by the size and number of holds, as well as the technical difficulty of the run. The harder runs require careful consideration and planning before they are attempted. For beginners, indoor climb- ing is the place to start. The Crag offers rental gear and all day admission for only $17. Belaying is one of the first things new climbers learn about.
