Scarlet and Blue Uniforms Mingle at 37th Annual Ball Victoria City Police Chief John Blackstock and Mts. Blackstock were hosts at the 37th Annual Police Ball in the Crystal Ballroom of the Empress Hotel last month. The first police ball in Victoria since they took over the policing of British Columbia, members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police were well represented, their scarlet tunics a dazzling color note contrasting with the blue uniforms of the city police. Top—Police Chief John Blackstock and Mrs. Blackstock led the grand march officially opening the brilliant affair. With them at the head of the procession were Ald. and Mrs. Diggon. Left—Superintendent C. W. Harvison, R.C.M.P. and Mcs. Harvison watch the happy throng of dancers at what was the happiest police ball on record. * Bottom—Attractive Miss Sheila Campbell, Lasqueti Island, had no trouble filling her dance program. Her escort is Constable J. F. Austin, Victoria. William Tickle’s orchestra played for dancing in the flower-decked ballroom.
