Over the Edge - September 12 Daybreak North Showcases UNBC HANNA PETERSEN NEWS EDITOR The first day of the academic year kicked off as usual for new and returning students: books were bought and sold, classrooms were found, coffee consumed, tuition finally paid. However, this year CBC's Daybreak joined students and staff during the early morning hours of the first day of the academic calendar. Host Betsy Trumpener was on location in the UNBC Wintergarden to catch all of the action. Students and faculty were interviewed allowing listeners across the north join in the excitement of a new year at UNBC. The broadcast first began at 6 am in UNBC’ regional campus in Prince Rupert. Host Leisha Grebinski highlighted stories about education and research from across northern B.C. In the Prince George campus, the first 200 students to arrive in the Wintergarden for the 7am broadcast were treated to a pancake breakfast courtesy of the CBC. UNBC President George Ilwama was also interviewed in a session featuring questioned posed by students and the public. Free CBC and UNBC giveaways were also reported by some lucky students. 19+ sic em tr ad : | Knox United Church Ce) " Sspm - 2am Jo mnexers $10 @ Topaz Bead Gallery GALA BLACK ff SHEEP GIFTS - Brought to you by: é Fe... safe space - support - resources the northern | Over the edge.indd 5 @ 09/09/2012 9:26:02 PM |
