by Scott Bishop The largest lecture theater on the UNBC Prince George campus will be officially named the Canfor Theater during a dedication ceremony on Tuesday, February 21st. Canfor Chairman and CEO Peter Bentley will be speaking at the event, along with UNBC President Geoffrey Weller and the Program Chair of Forestry Winifred Kessler. In conjunction with this event Canfor employees will staff a display on campus_ with information on forestry careers ‘and resource management practices. Canfor is one of the biggest supporters of our University with monetary contributions for the North to the Future campaign exceeding | $500,000, with the Government matching that figure. This campaign, which totals close to $7 Million, is primarily used for scholarships and bursaries. Hats off to Canfor!!! The Canfor Theater is the heart of the Conference/Fitness center and holds about 350 people. The 1st public event will be a concert sponsored by UNBC and the P.G. The Search is on! by Dayle Bowyer The President Search ‘Committee, with the- jassistance of the Landmark {Consulting Group, have {completed the process of ‘formulating criteria for the :appointment of |§UNBC’s ‘new _- President. The Committee have received comments on the challenges now facing the University and post-secondary education ‘in northern British Columbia, and have determined the primary characteristics required of a_ successful applicant. The Search Committee and a representative of the consulting company met with a wide cross-section of the UNBC Community and the \communities served, to gather views pertaining to the appointment of the President. INow that the criteria for appointment have been greed, the next phase of the process will be to sift onsulting will concurrently ontinue to seek nominations d advice on __ suitable andidates from the Canadian cademic community. It is xpected that the first terviews will take place in pril with a view to making n appointment from July 1, 1995.
