Printing Department G. WILLIAMS Coqualeetza has its own press, quite an accomplishment if the truth were known as the work is all done by amateurs. Programs, Christmas cards, report forms, letterheads, etc., provide a practical project for both typesetting and press operation. Some of the type, though old style. is historic as it was used long years ago by Mr. Raley in the printing of a Quarterly, named “NA-NA-KWA.” : “Every school boy and gitl who has arrived at the age of reflection ought to know something about the history of the art of printing.” —Horace Mann. Boat Building D. MacPHEF _ The construction of row boats. both of carvel and clinker design. formed an interesting feature of this year’s work, several twelve-foot boats complete with oars being turned out during the course. The ranking of the boys is as follows: H. Quocksistela; W. Bennett; A. Mason; C. Stewart. Motor Mechanics F. EDWARDS The first year students have received a thorough course of lectures coupled with demon- strations on the theoretical side of Motor Mechanics. The second and third year pupils have tackled problems of a practical nature in soldering, babbiting, repairing and over-hauling of the various types of engines. The rebabbiting of machinery in the school laundry, and repairs and maintenance of the school truck gave the boys plenty of actual practice. An interesting feature of the work was in the construction of actual working models of the various parts of the gas engine for demonstration purposes. A small single cylinder two cycle gas engine was hack sawed to show the operation of this type of engine. Boys deserving of mention in the Virst year are: V. Wells; V. Jones; G. Angus; H. Sepass. Second and Third year boys: P. Watson: P. Martin: M. Leeson: F. Calder: C. Williams. Mr. Boyle, of the Ethyl Corporation of America, gave a very interesting lecture to both classes on the use of modern fuels in modern engines. This was demonstrated with a com- plete portable laboratory which Mr Boyle brought along for the occasion, Farm Report CAPT. P. F. PIRIE, Supervisor The farm is of sufficient acreage. pasture and arability to supply the needs of the school. It produces. from a herd of Guernsey cows, at least 400 pounds of milk a day which is all used in the school. Roots and vegetables of good quality and quantity are grown while a large orchard and berry garden supply fruit. The work connected with the fruit has been supervised by Mr. R. Hopkins.
