I made search in this office and the only papers I could find bear- ing on the matter are a notice of “location,” a copy of which I send attached. A paragraph in a letter from His Excellency the Governor (1) Messrs. Land, Fleming & Co. had a sawmill operated by water-power on the flat opposite Yale. It was cutting lumber in September, 1858, and supplying it at the price of $125 per M.
