NEW MAIL ROUTE. We believe that the best interests of the people around Hazelton, and that vast section of country obtaining mail thereat, might be better served by having it conveyed over the Kitamaat route, which is supposed to be shorter and easier than the present one of the Upper Naas. If we obtain a monthly steamer service at Kitamaat, which in the very near future we hope to do, the Upper Skeena mails could be dropped off at Kitamaat, and a monthly outfit despatehed without delay to Hazelton via. the new trail recently constructed by the Provincial Government to Kit- zelass, thence following the old trail on the right hand side of the Skeena River to Hazelton. By a service of this kind a number of remote settlers could be reached on the way; and the route would be near the proposed new hatch- on the Lakelse River As we believe Kitamaat is the key to all that extent of country North and Kast, and it is the wish of the Govern- ment to develop such country; would it not be well if the work was speedily begun by something of this nature? We nearly lost the man in the stern of theeunoe, his ended our trip for the present, but we intend to give the Kitumaat River another trial as we like the appearance of the country.
