Classifieds Person to Person Thanks for Your Sup- port This is a small token of gratitude for all those that supported me in the past two elections for the recorder position on the Student So- ciety. Your votes were put to good use as I will be very busy within the Student So- ciety addressing the needs of the students and trying to get them more involved through the creation of volunteer po- sitions and making more publicized of what the Soci- ety is doing. A little about myself: I am a second/third year Psychology major who transferred from Capilano College in North Vancouver. At the College I was in- volved in setting up a peer support system on campus and then later worked as a peer support volunteer and academic advisor for a year and a half. I am happy that I made the decision to trans- fer up here instead of remain- ing on the Coast. Since my arrival here in September I have found UNBC to be a haven of opportunities for all those involved and I hope that students and the like will take advantage of these rare opporiunities and get in- volved. If you would like to get I contact with me ont x ideas for the Student Society — or ideas on the University you can e-mail me at: grunp000@ugrad.unbc.edu Thank you, Your newly elected re- corder Paul Gruner Congratulations to Paul Grunner on his recent election for Recorder to the Office of The Northern Undergraduate Student Society. In order to fund their poor, mismanaging butts, SLORC has looked towards North America for financial sup- port. Investors such as *Pepsi and affiliates (KFC, Hostess/Frito-Lay, 7-Up, Pizza Hut, etc.), Texaco, Heineken* and many, many others have brought millions of dollars into Burma...which benefits *no one but the military*. *FACT*: Pepsi is the *only* soft drink choice cn campus. So why do I care? Because I’m a commie tree-hugger? Maybe. Because I own every Bruce Cockburn album and have an unhealthy addiction to granola? That’s a possibility... All that I know is that I’m trying to start an action group to work towards changing the situation in Burma, as well as other consumer-awareness issues. If you would like to get involved, please stop by the PGPIRG office (7-234b) or phone (960-7474) and leave your name. If you’re too busy for that kind of stuff, at least try to encourage and a the boycott of Pepsi products (boycotts do work, ask South Africa). Thanks for your time. zee et t ' cuiny
