This group of 148 senior members and 25 junior members is organized and equipped to perform volunteer emergency service in the woods and are ever ready to muster at the first call for help from law services. On the call for help the rangers proceed quickly to the Blanshard Street assembly headquarters equip- ped with compass, knife, flashlight and extra cells, watch, waterproof matches, maps, personal first aid kit, note book and pencil and ranger identification badge. They are equipped with two trail- ers which can be quickly equipped with provisions and rushed to the trouble area to act as a field base. This, along with reserves on hand to replace tired-out searchers, enables continued action on search. MAN-TRACKING BLOODHOUND The rangers own a man-tracking bloodhound, Sir Roderick of Ogden, which comes from New Jersey and is a pedigree dog from the best man- tracking strain in America. This dog plays a major role in the Rangers’ hunts for lost persons and its services have been offered police to partici- pate in searches for lost persons any- where in British Columbia.
