ASBESTOS STANDARDS - EMISSION AND AMBIENT The P.C.B. Objectives are well defined for much of the mining industry in this Province. Specific asbestos Objectives, Rove es have not yet been defined. These have been under review since 1972. We have been advised that until such time as specific asbestos Objectives are set, the existing Objectives for the mining industry as a’whole are to serve aS a guideline. Oiealk. EMISSION We note that Environment Canada, under the terms of the Clean Air Act, was given a mandate to prescribe national emission standards for the emission of an air pollutant that may contribute a significant danger to health. As a result, a Federal Asbestos Task Force was established to investigate asbestos industry emissions. Attention is directed to the Task Force's February 1977 Report (EPS 3-AP-76-6) entitled "Air Pollution Emissions and Control Technology - Asbestos Mining and Milling Industry", in which some of their findings have been published.
