Flooring the Crowds By: Kathleen De Vere Floored’s message is that normalcy is the disease of our generation, and that shows in their music, seeing as how it’s anything but nor- mal. Floored consists of singer Scotty Dunbar, gui- tarist Jeremy Breaks, Mike Vanderlanse on bass, drum- mer Cory Roderick, and their newest asset DJ Weasel on turntables. They rocked the crowd at the forth annual Battle of the Bands on January 9th 2002, and won the event taking away the prize of being the opening band at next years Backyard BBQ. Floored have enjoyed local success and popularity, even touring with the Swollen Members, since they formed just over a year ago. DJ Weasel only recently joined Floored, but he finished their lineup with the addition of scratching to their already tight sound. “We always wanted scratching, but it took us a while to find the right man,” vocalist Scotty says of their newest member. The crowd seemed to approve of the addition at the Battle of the Bands, with Floored easi- ly getting the biggest reaction all evening. When asked if they wanted to say anything, they modestly _ replied, “Thanks to NUGSS and the X, and thanks to all the other bands, they were awesome.” If you missed Floored’s performance, or just want to see more of them, you can catch them at the Metro on January 28th. ~ ' Photo: : 5 Kati : 1 [ De V. | Floored’s Scotty Dunbar at the Battle of the Summer Camp Jobs in the U.S.A.
