Nov 1, 1999 Wolfpack and Grey Wolves are Ready for Round Two By AJ Delisle The Wolfpack and Grey Wolves hockey teams are ready for their sec- ond contest. The UNBC teams have only met once in the first month of regular season play, with the Wolfpack pre- vailing 6-5. It was the closest game of the year for either of the teams. The second game of the season will take place on Wednesday November 3rd at the Kin Center. The game starts at 9:15 pm and there will be a free shuttle bus to and from the game comple- ments of NUGSS. The Wolfpack is dress- ing almost an identical lineup from last year’s Rec C standings Canfor Wolfpack Rigler M.Grill Grey Wolves Bug Busters The Knights City Employees E. D. I. team. The team’s expe- rience has _ allowed them to challenge for ist place in the league, only two points back of their rivals Canfor. Last season was a definite disappointment for the team as they could’it seem to score enough goals and they were eliminated from the playoffs because of goal differential. Led this year by the line of Capenter, Cox, and Hedalin the Wolfpack is second in league scor- ing and goals against. With a record of 6-1-1 they are the team to beat this season. The Grey Wolves on the other hand are a team made up of rookies. There was no disap- pointment on the fans' behalf for two fast paced and_ exciting games. It all started off Friday night, October 15, with the Women's team tak- ing on Kwanitlen College. Although there were a few nerves dur- ing the 1st half they sure did show their dominance by out- shooting, outrunning, and outscoring the opponents. At half time they outscored ~ Kwantlen 37-14. _and Kwantlen with only The Women repeated the same style of play for the second half with Nicole Kerr #4 showing her offensive domi- nance. Kerr and Karla Stedham #6 are a great offensive pair with Kerr scoring 20 points for the game and Stedham 13 points. The Men's team then came on to take on Kwatlen College, and they did not disappoint The Men's team was a lot bigger and stronger then Kwantlen, but Kwantlen had speed and some good shoot- ing skills. The first half was quite close between UNBC five points seperating the two teams at half time. And that is what made the game so exciting. The fans were right in there with the team — cheering them = on though the whole game, with great shots, great plays and even a spectacular slam dunk near the end of the game to keep the excitement going. Definately entertaining, with a score of 68-59 for UNBC, with UNBC's top scorer being 6"9" player lan Hogan with 23 points.
