The sound is carried by a pulsing drum beat with some fuzzed out guitars following along. Goat Island is keeping it on the DL as far as performing is concerned for the moment, but they are hard at work recording new songs for the album that they plan to release by next summer. Check them out at myspace.com/the- goatislandextrapolation, or if you want you can visit them at www.aardskarf. com where they are kind enough to offer free downloads of their entire albums. COREY WINTEMUTE STAFF WRITER The Dazzlebrights are a local pop band that has been around since 2005. They are comprised of Eva Bright on guitars and resplendentness, and Gavin “Sweater Guy” Dazzle on keys and pul- chritudinousness. , Together’ they play to the tasty rhythms of the Dazzlebot. They harness the lo-fi sensibilities of bands such as the Microphones, and combine it with the melodic pop of bands like Of Mont- real and the Unicorns. This sound along with the band’s image brings pretty much one word to mind, adorable. The band is also a supporter of the local music scene, namely Big Old Eyes, but also those great basement bands that no one will éver hear because they do not play live. Even though Robert Dunlop has bu- rdened them by having Sir Gavin carry. his love child, and making a hair metal mix tape that is so engrossing that Eva can not put it down, they have not for- gotten about the fans. The Dazzlebrights plan on releasing Exidist KRISTY DA COSTA STAFF WRITER Exidist, a young Prince George based band, is leading the people to a new wave in music. From alternative indie rock to hard rhythms, they'll soon be raising the roof everywhere in PG. The band is made up of 4 guys, all lifetime members of Prince George; Josh Z. does lead vocals and rhythm guitar with Brett M. on lead guitar, Nick T. on drums and Kyle E. on bass. The band also includes Dave, their sound technician, Every band member has a unique style that contributes to the sound of their music = which they boast is entirely original. “We want people to listen to our music and think ‘that sounds like Exidist” says lead singer Josh, “we don't want to sound like any other band.’ Exidist used to perform under the name eee their first fall flog aban} in February azzlebrights ee ae and touring with Big Old Eyes in the summer. You can see them next at Sgt O'Flaherty’s November 7th for a night of comedic antics with BA Johnston. Be sure to ask them after the show if you can buy their sweaty socks/under- wear. If you can not wait until the show to hear them, have no fear, check them out at www.myspace.com/dazzle- brights. Two Cents Worth, bur they felt that it did not identify who they really were. They discarded this name and were nameless for a while until they were at a gig and forced to come up with one fast. That night the name Exidist was born. Right now Exidist is in the middle of a creative stage. They are currently working on eight new songs and expect to develop many more along the way. The guys are also focusing on creating a demo to get more of their music out there. They hope to soon be playing at the Generator and other local venues. Despite the craze to make it big, this band wants to remain at a local level. Their focus is on honing their craft instead of pursuing monetary gains. The group also wants to avoid being controlled by a record label and being told what to produce. “We want to leave our mark, but on our terms,’ says Josh, “we dont want a big corporate label controlling us.’ So far Exidist has played at the PGX, Battle of the Bands and Sound Entertainment just to name a few. They hope to soon announce their next live show. You can find more information and music samples online at www.soundclick.com/exidist. 4 a
