The use of the various forms of the possessive pronoun is illustrated by the

following examples :—

héem wa'tldem gn d'mpa, that is what they said to my father (literally, that

the word to my father).

hé’em wa'tldem sen 6'mpa, that is what my father said (that is my father’s word).

héxm wa'tldemth tsn 6'mpa, that is what my father will say.

hézm watldumtl qn 6'mpa or tsé qn 6'mpa, that is what they will say to my father .

gyt' koa sen d'mpa, my father’s house.

qn o'mpa agé'trk, my father took it.

ts’d tsen tlin'mtlug la qn o'mpa, give my hat to my father.
tsa qn titz'mtlug, give to my hat !

Pap'é'tentla qyishyin likya'yuku, 1 broke this with my hammer here.

tap é'tuntla qgyin likya'yuka, I broke my hammer here.
qn 6'mpa ag’é't tsn tltz'mtla, my father took my hat (away).

gn impa ag utltsot { se titn’mtla, my father took my hat (but left it here).

When the sentence contains an interrogative or demonstrative pronoun the pos-

sessive pronoun is generally attached to them.

wi'dun likya'yti? where is my hammer? gyi’mun likyda'ya, here is my hammer.

wi'nen d'mpa ? where is my father ? gyea'mgyin omphy né'hya, my father

here said this.

hé'men 6'mpa né' hya, my (absent) father

said it.
The pronoun may be affixed to the noun as well:
he (absent) is thy father, ha@/pm 6'mpé and ha'zm a'sé.

he (absent) is your father, hazms 6’mpdaogué and haxm a'sdaogue.

It is remarkable that the possessive suffix may be given to the verb as well, at

least in imperative forms :
give me thy hat (near thee), g'é’tsés tltu'mtlug.
