"That is the very reason why I have come from above," replied Kwunusela, the Thunderbird, for that was his name. He then seized the log in his immense talons and raised it with no effort, plac- ing it exactly on the two posts already in place to support its weight. Then he told them other things about building a house, and while the people stood around and the Chief thanked him they now knew he must be the Thunderbird of whom their grandfathers had told them. Kwunusela then bade them farewell, saying: "You will always have a friend in me to watch over you." \Then the grateful Chief and the people rolled a great stone to the spot where the Thunderbird had stood, and named their village "The place where Kwunusela alighted," and so it is called to this day.
