OUTLINE OF THE MINE-MILLING PROCESS Please refer to Appendix B. The ore deposit occurs in the form of cross veins Pope chrysotile asbestos attached to the host rock serpentine. It is the only asbestos deposit mined and milled in British Columbia at the present time. Aols, MINING is carried out by standard open pit methods involving drilling, blasting, waste and ore haulage, and ore crushing at the Minesite. Approximately 6 million tons of waste rock are being removed during 1977 to obtain just over l million tons of ore from which will be produced less than 100,000 tons of asbestos fibre. After primary crushing the ore is delivered to the Plantsite by a modern aerial tramline. Mine waste is deposited in dump areas adjacent to the open pit. Upon receipt of the coarsely crushed ore at the tramline unloading terminal, the ore is conveyed to the Primary Concentration Plant where further crushing and waste separation occurs to provide a beneficiated ore feed to the Drying Circuit. After rotary drying the ore is conveyed to a large Dry Rock Storage Building.
