The following article has been written to ‘make you aware of the laws governing this in our pro- vince: It is left to each individual to decide by what means he or she wishes to Ret rid of their containers; leave them for the Lions' collection service, or return them yourself. On July 1, 1970 the Litter Act was proclaimed in force by the Provincial Government. Under this legislation, the conditions of sale of drink containers are clearlv de- fined to be subject to a Yefund. Section 3 of the Litter Act reads: 3. (1) No person shall sell or offer for sale beer, ale, carbonated beverages, or drinks in a glass, plas- tic, or metal container for consumption or use off the premises on which they are S6ld or offered for sale ur.less the person undertakes to refund and does refund to the purchaser on delivery up of the container to the pre- Mises at which they are sold or offered for sale the sum of not less than two cents for each container or such other greater amount as may be prescribed by regulations of the Lieutenant-Governor in Council.
