Brownies Annual fiir sed BANQUET On Thursday evening, June 19, Cassiar Mothers and Brownies gathered together for their Annual Mother- Daughter Banquet. Guests for the evening were Mrs. Velma Arnold, Area Commissioner of Taylor, B.C., Sandy Crawford, Past District Guider, and Brownie Badge Testers, Mrs. Judy Pearson, Mrs. Doreen Pewsey, Mrs. Karen Clark and Mrs. Christine Dickinson. Testers unable a to be present were Mrs. Mary Wilson, Mrs. Vivian Cousins, ot Mrs. Rose Ebbinghoff, Mrs. Marlene Venzi, and Mrs. Nada Carin, Snowy Owl and Tester. Mr. Paul Wood assisted with bicycle testing. Leatha White welcomed everyone and Anita Yorke introduced the guests of honor and Testers. Following grace by Kathy Humphrey, an enjoyable dinner was supplied by the Cookery Staff and Brownie Mothers. Rosie Loverin proposed a toast to the Queen, Cherie Henderson proposed a toast to the Mothers and Sharon Shuffler proposed a toast to the Leaders. Murill Yorke, M.C. for the evening, introduced Karen Clark who was instrumental in preparing the cross-country ski qualifications and who yt tested the Brownies for cross country skiing, gave an interesting summary of the skiing program that the i _ Brownies participated in this past winter. She then presented six Brownies with their cross-country ski bad- ges. Sandy Crawford assisted Mrs. Arnold in presenting the various Brownie badges earned this past year. Sherie Henderson and Sharon Shuffler were presented with their "Wings" to fly up to Guides. Congratulations girls. Dianna Shuffler presented Mrs. Arnold with a gift from the Brownie Pack, Lillian Kamlah presented Brown Owl Judy Henderson and Tawny Owl, Barbara Humphrey with farewell gifts and Lori Kamlah presented Kathy Humphrey and Cherie Hunderson with autograph books as a farewell gift from the Brownies. Sandra Nadeau gave an interesting talk on Brownies in New Zealand. Entertainment was provided by the Brownie Pack and Leaders. Hine Robichaud had instructed the girls on making and using Poi Balls. The brownies displayed their Poi-Ball talents accompanied by an Hawaiin record. This was thoroughly. enjoyed by all present. The girls then sang several Brownie songs accompanied by Hine on the guitar. The Brownies honored their Leaders by performing the Grand Howl. A play written by some of the Brownies was performed by Anita Yorke, Cherie Henderson, Sharon Shuffler and Sandra Nadeau. Mrs. Velma Arnold gave an informative talk on Guiding on the Move and events taking place throughout B.C. The evening was brought to a close by Taps and prayer.
