From Western Washington the motorist can reach the Pacific Highway to Vancouver by ferry, or can go to Victoria, the beautiful Capital City of British Columbia, which has a peculiar charm that cannot be duplicated elsewhere on the continent. From Victoria direct connection can be made with Vancouver, or from Nanaimo, reached by a splendid highway along the Island Coast and through woodland drives. Several ports of entry to the Lower Fraser Valley give access to the main highway to Yale. Along the border of British Columbia there are, all told, seventeen entry-ports, and from each the way leads by connecting highways with the road that leads to the Land of the Golden Twilight. The Trans-Provincial Highway weaves along the border for a great part of the distance between the Kootenays and the Similkameen country. The Okanagan Valley is a wonderfully beautiful drive. The motorist entering from the South may follow the route of the old fur brigades up this beautiful valley to Kamloops; or may follow the other early-day trail via the Similkameen and Nicola Districts to Spences Bridge or Kamloops.
