Yarie Irwin in the "all of 1966, with “rs. Valerie Velnvk assisting in a secretarial capacity. These ladies were verv active in the Cluh until their departures from Cassiar and thev were succeeded hv Mrs. Evol Shuffler and “irs. Laurie "itzsimmons. The name “Handicraft Cluh" can no longer he con- fused with the "Smoking Cluh” as a few once thought it to be - this perhaps scared some awav, but those who smoke are quite free to do so if thev desire. Maybe this is one of the reasons we changed the name: : The Club meets every two weeks on “ondav evenings for two to three hours, each member taking their turn in having a meeting at their home. This way it is kept very informal and evervone enjoys a pleasant evening. We do anything in the line of handicraft, even to darning socks, taking up or letting down hems, or sewing on missing buttons. Light refreshments are served toward the end of the evening and it is fun trying out the various recipes. The Club recesses at the end of June each vear with a Supper in the Curling Lounge and re-opens in September. Anyone interested in joining its welcome at any time during the Cluh year. Notices of meetings are always placed in the Store Lobby - just come along and join us. We always welcome any new ideas anyone can offer- maybe there's a new craft or art we do not know about - we are all ready to learn - so please come along and show us. A small town is one where the folks know all the news hefore the paper comes out, but merely take it to see whether or not the editors got rhe stories according to the way they heard them.
