CASSIAR CAPERS "Fine Times'' was the saying for the hilarious frolics enjoyed by both part- icipants and spectators alike at the Cassiar Capers - Thursday February 8th to Sunday, February 11th. Thursday evening started with the Snow- mobile club torch ride. The Rec Hall was a bustle of activities with tables of bridge, crib and table tennis with dart enthusiasts competing in the far corner. Across the way, in the Arena, lauahter roared as teams of broom ball competed for - bruises and points - oops....by the looks of thinas, the number of bruises soared over the aame scores! Saturday mornina started with a scrump- tious pancake breakfast - thanks to Sandy, Arlene and Martha. Nourishment from this was needed for the following games of tuq- a-war, pie eating contest and fun relays on ice. We hope everyone has recovered from their stiffness and bruises. The evenina contained its full share of laughs as the dance started out with the ''Miz Bestos" Beauty Queen Contest. Our six contestants made judging a difficult task but the judges eventually made their decision and chose a queen and two princesses; Ist: Miss Telearaph Creek, Joe Fitzsimmons. 2nd: Miss Quartz Creek, "Lilly'' Lothar Kutz. 3rd: Miss Upper Liard, Steve Ikac. “MIZ BESTOs” CONTESTANTS L to R - Joe Fitzsimmons, Bob Walsh, Lothar Kutz, Steve Ikac, Eldon Hardy and Doug Nelson Talented singers - L.to R. Well here we are - at Lasstar Capers Soon you'll read tt - in the vavers For three days - we've watched comoeting All the races -and pie eating We've seen poor sports and seen bad sports but we're glad we even have sports! We don't care who wins the races or Who has pte smeared on their faces We don't care who wins or looses and sure don't mind all the bruises. All we care its that we're all here and we hope you'll be here next year! I guess we'll go sit doum now so you can hear some other clowns now By the way tf you didn't like us then your free to catch the next bus Else you can enter yourself next year And right now we're gotng to have a beer - So we'll see you in the papers when you read about Cassiar Cavers ' o/ 7 * *& & & & KR OR The ''3'' Barbershop Quartets proved that Cassiar does have "hidden" talent. The question remains....should they have stayed hidden?7? Nevertheless this talent did prove rewarding when the ''Hard Times Band!! began to play. The total success of these four days was brought about by the overwhelming support of the community, given to our ''Randy'' and staff. A big thanks to all and we hope this ' "'first'' becomes an annual event.
