The skaters are enjoying their time on the ice and are all coming along quite well. The Canskate and Canfigureskate groups are skating on Wednesdays and Fridays and the CSFA test skaters are on the ice Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday mornings. The Executive met on October 28, 1987. This was a long meeting but alot of ground was covered. Reports were given by the Bingo Conmittee, Ways and Means and Test Chairperson. On. the Bingo report, Francis Sherlock stated that the first Bingo was a great success and that the toy bingo was held on November 15, 1987. The regular monthly Bingo was held on November 18th. Thus far the co-opera- tion by both parents and the bingo committee has been very rewarding to Francis. She has been working very hard at making these occasions a success, so keep up your support! Beth Minty has been very hard at work and her efforts are defin tely paying off. Just recently she had her first hot dog sale at the school and I think everyone was happy with their lunch. Beth now feels that the next sale will be much smoother and easier. ‘@ tS a Debbie Dick Woolworths Erickson Gold > 9 ! $ \ 9 $ Seasons Greetings to All of our Supporters & Sponsors Cassiar Mining Corp. Dee rate: our pledges are met the club will realize about $1300.00 net profit. Good work skaters! Thanks to all those parents who came out to bake or help. Special thanks to the Com- munity Club for donating the ice time and to Marlene Shipley for organ- izing this event. We all had a good time. Brrrr! November monthend will see the CSFA Test Skaters off to Smithers for the Kla-How-Ya Competition. Holly will be attending with them and Lorraine Drzimotta has graciously donated her time to coach the Canskate and Canfigureskate children on Friday, November 27th. The Seniors are really looking forward to this outing. Mr. Frances Gleason will be busing the girls, and the trip will be from November 27-29. Hopefully the weather will co-operate. AS you can see, things are starting to take fomn. Dates will be set shortly for the Christmas Program and the Carnival. We are hoping to have a test day in late January or early February. This year, we hope to take all skaters to Watson Lake for a skating display. Also plans will soon be underway for the Spaghetti Dinner and Windup. Thanks to all supporters and volun- teers, your efforts are very much appreciated! If you have any con- cerns, please give me a call. The Toy Bingo held on November 29th was the biggest and best ever. Thanks to the Bantam Midgets for doing their share of work, especially to Roland who has been the official "toymaker" over the past few years. Raffle tickets for the "Pick-A- Prize" raffle were an instant sell out and a big thank you to all those who donated the prizes and to those who purchased the tickets. All divisions have been practising three times a week and all are looking forward to attending tournaments in the new year. At this time the Atoms are tentatively planning to go to Terrace during the Christmas. break. We hosted a mini-tournament on November 28th with the Atoms and Pee Wees from Watson Lake in for the day. There was some good active competition and a fun time vas had by all players. Thanks must go to the parents of Good Hope Lake players who manned the can- teen and to the fellows for their officiating, time-keeping and to all the fans. The Bantam/Midgets have played a couple of exhibition games against the Cassiar Oldtimers and have split the win/loss score. The Atoms have played a couple of games with the Ladies Hockey team.and are holding their own. It seems that Jody Harrison is really in demand - both from her own Atom team and the Ladies Team. There are twenty-four Novices prac- ticing each week and it is amazing to see how well the first year players are progressing. Also a lot of im- provement with the older players at the other end of the ice. The Novices scrimage each Friday at 6:00 wm so come on out if you want to watch some real fun hockey with the little guys. Everyone involved with Minor Hockey “in Cassiar would like to wish everyone a sate and happy holiday season ano. once again, a big thanks’to all our supvorters. After over a month of intense hockey action it is clear that the team to beat is the Cassiar Flying Blues. The Blues have a perfect record to date largely due to outstanding goal tending by Richard “the cat’” Knowles. Also, in the goal scoring department, the line of Wayne “rat-a-tat-tat’” Rattray, Johnny ‘‘the Dipper’’ Drzimotta, and Greg ‘‘beat ya to the puck’’ Morgan have been totally awesome. Erickson Minor hockey fans have been applauding the strong play of the “‘flashy’”’ Guy Martial. Guy has been carrying the puck out of his own end and combining on some nice passing plays with the ‘ever steady’’ Doug Bannatyne and “ever ready”’ Gord Kamlah. Marty Marion and his partner Reggie Etzerza have brought a lot of fast skating to the teams attack. Gord Rowe, the “puck blocker’’ has been doing his thing, diving out in front of many hard shots in an effort to protect goaltender Garred “bottles” Huber. The Oldtimers team can be symbolized by looking at Paul Driscoll. Paul has had numerous occasions to cash in on goals but has been thwarted by “hard luck’’. ‘‘Rookie’’ Tony Shaw has shown good speed and was prevented from scoring his debut goal only because of a great pad save. Tony had waltzed in from the blue line and was all alone. Too Bad M*!! Rick Cameron has been catching the attention of the other teams blueliners as his new “wheels” are carrying him rapidly from end to end. Congratulations to the Oldtimers on their wins over Dease Lake and Iskut in exhibition hockey. The Good Hope Lake Warriors are to be commended for their big win over Iskut on November 14th. The game was a fast skating, affair that had all the intensity of a good rivalry.
