The remainder of this area is timbered chiefly with poplar and willow scrub. Heavier timber consisting of spruce and jackpine, mostly fire-killed, was seen in townships 74 and 75, range 12. The number of townships and fractional town- ships investigated was 37, comprising 4787 quartersections. The lands examined were divided into eight classes. (a) Lanés not open for homestead entry.
