Mary and her little Lamb notwithstanding, we can’t welcome your pets on the schoolgrounds. Even dogs that are normally quite tame tend to get excited when confronted with 150 friendly children. Please make an effort to keep your dogs away from the school play- ground. NON-INSTRUCTIONAL DAY The afternoon of March 3rd will be a non-instuc- tional day for students. Students will be dismis- sed at 12:00 noon on that day as teachers will be taking part in an inservice for the ‘‘Feeling Yes, Feeling No’’ program. First, during the weekend of January 22nd to 24th both teams travelled to Fort Nelson. Although neither team won their respective divisions, | am pleased to announce that both teams were selected the ‘‘Most Sportsmanlike’’ team, which is a fine reflection on the Cassiar players and their coaches, Mr. Vickery and Mr. Beck. Second, on February 3rd to 6th, the girls’ team travelled to Terrace and Hazelton for a series of games. In addition, Mr. Vickery, the girls’ coach, held a players’ clinic at Hazelton Secondary. - Third, on the weekend of Februrary 12th to 14th, the girls’ team hosted a boys’ and girls’ invitational tournament. When the dust settled on Sunday morning, both Cassiar teams placed second in their respective divisions, losing out to the teams from Fort Nelson. On behalf of Mr. Vickery and Mr. Beck, | would like to thank the many people who helped to make the tournament a success, including the Students’ Council for organizing the Saturday evening dance; the many parents who billetted players; and the numerous individuals who volunteered their time to cook, referee and scorekeep. INTRAMURALS The indoor soccer season has been underway for the past month. At the end of the schedule the Couch Potatoes were first, the Gladiators second, and the infamous Pele’s Plumbers a close third. During the week of February 15 - 19, the three teams were involved in playoffs, the results of which were unavailable at press time.
