Check with your foreman re the approved methods and tools used in cleaning conveyor belts, un- plugging chutes, bins and crushers. Do not walk on the surge pile - it may ‘hang-up’ and collapse into the feeder. Smoking or the use of open flame lights is not per- mitted within 50 feet of any explosive magazine, loading area, or explosives vehicle. Magazines are to be kept locked, loaded areas are to be cordoned off, and explosive laden vehicles must display red flags or signs. Explosives must be handled with care. Do not remove any explosives from the mine or carry any detonators or powder in your clothing. BLASTING SIGNALS —One long whistle is a warning blown 5 minutes be- fore lighting the fuse. Take cover immediately when you hear this whistle. —A series of short whistles is an indication that the blasting fuse has been lit and they will continue until the last shot goes off. —After the last shot goes off, three long whistles will advise you that all is clear. DO NOT LEAVE COVER UNTIL AFTER YOU HEAR THESE THREE LONG WHISTLES. In case of serious accident or emergency, stay at your post unless requested to assist by your foreman.
